The second week of May will be a busy one for the UFC.
UFC President Dana White told ESPN during an Instagram Live interview that the promotion is planning to hold events on May 9, May 13, and May 16 in Florida. The May 9 show was previously announced as the new date for the postponed UFC 249 event (originally scheduled for April 18).
According to White, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed off on these shows and the Florida State Boxing Commission will handle regulation.
White could not confirm where the May 13 and May 16 shows would be broadcast, saying that would be ESPN’s call. However, they will also take place at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.
He added that the UFC is still working on setting up Fight Island for future events and that it “should be up and running by June.”
