Hello Paul and thank you very much for your time.
How old were you when you first started training martial arts?
I think around 7yrs old. I started for a short time in Karate.
What excited you about martial arts?
I really wanted to be a Ninja, an ultimate type of warrior.
Why exactly did you choose MMA ?
Because I loved to fight, I loved martial arts and to do this for a living seemed like a dream.
You have great results in K1. How do you manage both K1and MMA?
I enjoy both, I wish I could fight more. Both K-1 and MMA. Hold great belts with both.
How old were you when you first stepped in the ring?
I think 18yrs old.
You are an inspiration to many young people only starting out in MMA. What’s your advice to all young fighters?
Never give up, stay focused and train smart.
How did you get the nickname SEMTEX?
Because I fight explosive. Always for the KO.
Which is the victory in your career that you treasure the most?
I have many. To many to pick from.
Apparently you are also involved in an anti-autism projects, can you tell us more about that?
They approached me and I though the cause was just.
You fought in many big organizations. Where did you feel the best?
I love Bellator. They appreciate me.
What are your memories of UFC?
It was the fast life. Exciting. It went very quickly.
You have an impressive score. Do you look for a particular rematch?
A fight with Woodley or Nick Diaz would be awesome.
Spirit Dojo is your club; you are also the owner of the club and a trainer. Can you tell us more about the organization?
It’s my other dream. I want to grow a big successful gym, a great business that people appreciate.
In your opinion, what’s the secret of success in martial arts?
To keep going. Never quit.
Many people think that martial arts are not a sport at all, but just violence. What is your message to those people?
It’s an art. Look to the roots. The beginning. To protect the weak, the humble from more imposing forces. This is great.
Nowadays you fight for Bellator. How pleased are you with this partnership?
England has many excellent fighters competing in some of the best organisations. What are the reasons behind this?
Our culture. We love to fight. Ha ha.
